Monday, February 17:

9:00 – Parliament’s Committee for the Organization of the Administration and Affairs of Armed Forces is scheduled to hold a hearing with the official in charge of major reforms from the Prime Minister’s office who holds the rank of minister about bill No81/2019 on the governance of public contributions, facilities and institutions, according to Marsad Majles, the parliamentary watchdog project of NGO Al Bawsala.

10:00 – Parliament’s Defense and Security Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing with representatives from the Ministry of the Interior regarding public security, the increased incidence of robbery and drug use, and the protection of educational institutions, according to Marsad Majles, the parliamentary watchdog project of NGO Al Bawsala.

10:00 – Parliament’s Committee investigating the deadly bus crash in Amdoun is scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss the contents of the committee’s report and to hear from two people wounded in the accident, according to Marsad Majles, the parliamentary watchdog project of NGO Al Bawsala. The official parliamentary website indicates the meeting will be held in chamber number one.

14:00 – Parliament’s Committee on Tunisia Diaspora Affairs is scheduled to hold a hearing with the interim Minister of Transport and the directors general of Tunis-Air and the National Air Travel Company regarding preparations for the two national carriers ahead of the summer season, according to Marsad Majles, the parliamentary watchdog project of NGO Al Bawsala.

18:30 – Film screening of the documentary “In the Land of Sad Oranges” by Dhia Jerbi, hosted by L’Institut français de Tunisie. Location: L’Institut français de Tunisie.

Tuesday, February 18:

9:00 – Parliament’s Committee on the Rules of Procedure, Immunity, Electoral Laws and Parliamentary Laws is scheduled to continue its discussion on amendments to parliamentary rules and procedures, according to Marsad Majles, the parliamentary watchdog project of NGO Al Bawsala.

10:00 – A demonstration is being organized in front of the Tunis II Court of First Instance in support of Aymen Othman, coinciding with the second hearing in the trial of customs officials accused of killing Othman by manslaughter. Othman, 19, died on October 23, 2018 in the Sidi Hassine neighborhood of Tunis after customs officials opened fire.

Wednesday, February 19:

9:00 – Parliament’s Committee for the Organization of the Administration and Armed Forces Affairs is scheduled to hold a hearing with the Minister of Local Affairs and the Environment on bill No73/2019 regarding the transfer of goods over land borders, according to Marsad Majles, the parliamentary watchdog project of NGO Al Bawsala.

Thursday, February 20:

9:00 – One-day colloquium on the topic of “the new constitutional and political balances following the 2019 elections in Tunisia,” hosted by the Research Lab for International Law, International Jurisdictions, and Comparative Constitutional Law at Carthage University (URDIJIDCC) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
